After passing one of the more spookier holidays, I felt the need to post an article about an artist who knows the creepy aesthetic very well. Neto Zamora, an illustrator hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, has brought his twisted ideas out with precision. There is some strong line-work with smooth color transitions that enhance the grotesque stylings. I would highly recommend skimming his illustrations. A link to his portfolio and blog here.

Character design is a complex science. The idea of building an individual existence to coincide with others flawlessly, can be quite a task. Scott MacDonald takes this task with style, creating unique, hip, and flawed characters. This look of baggy-eyed and disheveled gives us the impression, there is depth and stories to be told in each illustration. SMAC definitely has a grip on honest design and true dimension, yet a look that’s easily translatable. Scott has received a diploma in Graphic Design and Digital Animation. Much of his work has been in collaboration with Jib Jab and on other Flash animated Television productions. A link to his portfolio and blog here.
