Shawn creates some very interesting (if not slightly creepy) and quite surreal worlds in his paintings.
Statement:
Using gouache, handmade inks and watercolor, on paper I construct a universe populated with figures caught between contemplation, confusion and diversion. Figurers who sometimes appear as serious devotees or interlopers having wandered into complex rituals that they have little comprehension of. Their extended phalluses a symptom of useless excess and the never ending desire for more, taken to its ridiculous extreme.
