As part of the Pictoplasma Festival (running until April 15th) in Berlin – I spent my Wednesday evening gallery-hopping and checking out a lot of great art displayed across several galleries and artist-spaces. One of the highlights for me was seeing Jon Fox’s large and complex paintings – really mind-blowing stuff. Showing at the appropriately-named {MadeMyDay} Gallery.
French illustrator Julien Pacaud not only seems to have had the coolest career-turns (as “astrophysician, an international snooker player, a hypnotist and an esperanto teacher”) but also creates the coolest collage-style illustrations.
His works portray the strangest human/intergalactic scenarios – with the greatest titles such as “Labyrinthic Love”, “The End of the World Fanclub” or “Concerto for Two Rifles and Bird”.
Marius Roosendaal (featured here back in October) has been hard at work producing some phenomenal typographic/graphic artworks. This style of work really inspires me these days – Marius seems to be studying all potential shape, color and form combinations within such an abstract realm.
With the recent closure of the space shuttle program, photographer Neil DaCosta and art director Sara Philipps and re-touch artist Saskia Thomson got together and created this great series of Astronaut Suicides. There’s a sort of dark humor flowing through the series, and it goes flawlessly with these visually arresting photographs.

The Weekend is a project created by Chilean photographer Isabel Martinez. I’m really captivated by the concept Isabel was following in the making of this series. As she explains, these pictures are visual confrontations with the unstoppable: Time.
Don’t we all wish there was a way of changing the timely order of some things? Maybe even reconstruct it for out personal preference?
The reconstruction of time for her personal preference is exactly what Isabel beautifully depicted in these pictures. She edited out those long, tiring weekdays and merged the much more enjoyable Saturdays and Sundays into one shot.
