Thomas Albdorf is not only great at balancing things, but also knowing which things to balance, where to shoot these temporary installations, and of course how to compose a great shot. We featured Thomas’ work by in early 2011, since then he has continued to produce outstanding work and from reading his blog it seems there’s even more in the coming.
I’ve seen Thomas’ work pop up around the blogosphere for a while now, and featuring his work here is long overdue. In this interview on It’s Nice That (where he was selected as Student of the Month) Thomas notes one of the things he has learned in university is the ability to notice:
“subtle uncanniness and not-so-obvious possibilities to create interesting situations out of ordinary objects”.
Have a look at these pictures and I’m sure you’ll see a visual translation of the “subtle uncanniness” Thomas speaks of. There’s a certain pleasure found in looking at misplaced elements in unpredictable environments, Thomas knows exactly how to trigger such a feeling.
